Getting Giggi

With Flemenstar a short enough favourite for today's Irish Arkle, the only value in the English equivalent appears to be Bog Warrior at 25/1 in a place, and bigger than that to bits and pieces on betfair.

Bog Warrior gave Flemenstar a sound beating earlier in the season over the 2 mile trip before stepping up to two and a half miles devastatingly in the Drinmore at Fairyhouse. With Last Instalment apparently tailor-made for the RSA Chase, the Gigginstown ownership decided to go for the Grade 1 event over the shorter trip at the Leopardstown Xmas Festival.  If he'd stayed on his feet that day, I strongly suspect he'd have made mincemeat out of Blackstairmountain and the rest.

He may not even make it to the Festival now, of course, because he took a heavy fall that day.  But the price is big enough to take a chance.
