The Deloitte Novice Hurdle

Punters who like Cash And Go for today's Deloitte Novice Hurdle at Leopardstown may be tempted to back him this morning for the Supreme Novices at Cheltenham next month at a generally available 16/1.

But the way to go is to back him in a single today at 3/1, with a view to reassessing the Cheltenham market after the event.

If you take those 16s he'd probably have to win very impressively today to make the bet worth while.  And an impressive win seems unlikely.  His career so far has been marked more by guts than class.  Twice now over hurdles he's been joined in a battle, and twice he's come out on top. Horses like that, who don't swing away and win on the steel but still get the job done, are often underestimated by the market.

Cash And Go

The ideal scenario is that he just gets home today and is shortend up to no bigger than 10/1 for the Supreme.  We can then decide whether to reinvest at much bigger odds combined, or indeed whether to just, err, cash and go.

Cash And Go: 2pts win at 3/1 (Skybet, Stan James)

  1. I was hoping that with Captain Conan making the market, Sous Les Cieux would be bigger, tempting me in with a squeak over a bit further, more suitable ground, presumably, a more restrained ride. But there's very little value to be had with anything out of the Mullins yard currently.

Good luck with C&G. At last, some decent racing to get stuck into.

  2. It's a funny market this, isn't it? When they chalked it up midweek, the Henderson beast was put in a short priced fav, so there was plenty of value around. C&G was 4s but I wasn't certain O'Grady had committed him. Anyway, it all changed after the final decs. Cracking card, as ever.
