The Days of Your Life

Back from Sandown, potless yet exhilarated.

We've scrupulously mapped Sprinter Sacre's steps towards the King George of 2013; we've discussed the right-hand/left-hand dichotomy; and we've gone all annal (which is how the horse All Annalea was abbreviated on the bookies' boards).

But now it's back to the solemn and solitary business of punting.  First thing on Sunday morning there's the Hong Kong International races at Sha Tin. Then there's the clash between Sir Des Champs and Flemenstar at Punchestown.  A victory for Flemenstar would effectively BURY Colin's elusive dream of Ten to Follow glory - before we've even put up the Christmas tree.

And before that there's the Hilly Way Chase at Cork, and the return of Days Hotel. It was a shame this lad never came back last year after such a commanding performance in the Craddockstown. But he's back now, and while it's hard to weigh up the value of his novice form, we know he jumps well and goes on easy ground.  The opposition is decent (Blazing Tempo, Realt Dudh, Foildubh) but not scary. The 13/2 has long gone, but at a general 5/1 he's still worth a small 2% interest in my book.

a big day for Days Hotel
